In the Line of Rebellion

About

“Karina’s terrified, and terrified people are much more manageable.”

In theory.

Karina despises the regime controlling her planet. She hides specialized fighting skills to avoid government entanglements, but an encounter with veteran police chief Avyer results in a violent fight that leads her to work for the very system she loathes.

Avyer witnesses her save and help citizens - himself included - causing him to doubt everything he has ever known. More dangerously, he finds himself falling for her.

When Karina is selected for a dangerous assignment, they find themselves at a crossroads.

They have put themselves in the line of duty time and again… but will their hearts lead them in the line of rebellion?

Praise for this book

This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster I was not prepared for!

Karina is exactly the kind of protagonist I love, fierce, clever, a little stubborn, and constantly torn between survival and doing what’s right. She’s carrying all this fire inside her, but the world around her forces her to stay small… until she just can’t anymore. The moment she crosses paths with Avyer, everything shifts. Their first fight had me clutching the pages, and their uneasy truce had me grinning because you just know it’s going to complicate everything.

And Avyer… whew! I love when a character is so sure of the world, so loyal to the rules, and then someone walks in and flips their whole moral compass upside down. Watching him wrestle with duty vs. what he actually feels was so satisfying.

The plot keeps moving, there’s no lull here. Every time you think you can breathe, something else blows up (sometimes literally). By the time the dangerous assignment came around, I was fully yelling at the book, like “NOPE, DO NOT SEPARATE THEM RIGHT NOW.”

And the romance? Oh, the romance. It’s that kind of slow-burn, forbidden, “we shouldn’t but we can’t stop orbiting each other” energy that makes you forget you were supposed to be sleeping three chapters ago.

This book was action-packed and suspenseful all the way through!

Karina lives in a time where countries have separated off into their own planets. There is a dictator out there attacking and overthrowing governments on planets, and her planet is no exception. Karina essentially lives in a police state with very strict rules. When she has to defend herself using some very high-level skills, she catches the eye of the police chief, Avyer Nikolai, who thinks that her skills are just what he needs to add to his police force.

The enemies vibe is real between Karina and Avyer. She doesn't believe in what he stands for, and he thinks that she just needs to shut up and follow the rules. But somewhere along the way, an attraction starts building between the two, and it seems like they may have more in common than they initially thought. Can the two work together to save the people and lead them through this rebellion? Or will they both become collateral damage along the way?

If you like dystopian police state rebellion kind of stories, full of action and suspense, this one is definitely for you!

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect about this book. However, from page 1, I was pulled in to this story. The characters seem so alive. The world is well developed.

In addition, I read this in record time. I'm usually a slow reader, but I seriously couldn't wait to find out the fate of the characters and their world.

If you like clean, dystopian fiction this book will not disappoint you. I hope the author plans a sequel because I can't wait to read more.
